On Saturday 30th September 2023, Bekonscot was delighted to welcome the Right Honourable Michael Portillo to officially open its latest attraction for visitors, High Shrunkham Junction. Invited guests included Trustees of the Roland Callingham Foundation, Directors of Bekonscot Ltd, local dignitaries and Bekonscot staff. Mr Portillo spoke of his fondness for Bekonscot since visiting as a child and Brian Newman-Smith, Managing Director of Bekonscot, thanked all the staff that were involved in building the museum and bringing it to life.
High Shrunkham Junction is an immersive museum which transports visitors inside one of the 1930s railway stations at Bekonscot. Imagine yourself shrunk down to the size of one of our figures, looking out at the giant people walking around outside. Children can sit at the Station Master’s desk, stamp their own Bekonscot passports, dress up in a guard’s uniform and signal to other guests using flags and lights.
