Bekonscot staff are kept busy over the winter closure maintaining and improving the model village and its facilities.
This year the new play area has been a major project as well as making preparations for the extension of the Bekonscot Light Railway. As many models as possible are brought under cover or indoors to protect them from the worst of the elements. No space goes left unused! With no visitors on site, paths are dug up to make repairs to underground works and new tarmac will be laid to improve the path surfaces. Models and figures receive an upgrade. This can be just a good clean for some but others require complete stripping back, repairs and new paintwork. The gardens receive attention too, with trees and hedges being trimmed and new planting when weather allows. No rest therefore for the busy members of the Bekonscot team!
