Bekonscot Model Village and Railway are pleased to offer 2 days during our 2022 season specifically for Home Educated children. Tickets for our Home Ed Days include all day entry to the model village, an age-appropriate practical workshop and access to our downloadable worksheets, activity books and associated resources.

Thursday 19th May 2022 – Model Making
Wednesday 14th September 2022 – Life in the1930s
Cost:
£7.40 for adults and children. Under 2’s free

Attendance at one of the 3 workshops is included in the cost of entry. Please adhere to the recommended age group for each workshop as age appropriate resources will be used.
Numbers are limited to 15 children per workshop.

Workshop Details:
Age 4-6 10.15am – 11.00am – Build a model village
Children will create their own model village using papercraft activities to make houses, cars,
trees and a roadway. They will consider layout and the best places to site particular buildings.
Age 7 – 9 11.30 – 12.30 – Moving Models
Children will be introduced to the mechanisms used to make our models move. Focusing on levers, pulleys and gears, they will create their own moving models based on those seen in the village.
Aged 9+ 2.00 – 3.00 – Bekonscot Model Making
Using the same techniques practiced by our own model makers, children will design and create their own model house comprising of a wooden frame and decorated panels. They will need to consider the strength of their structures and the angles of joints.
Downloadable Resources:
Related workbooks and activity books can be downloaded and printed in advance of your visit. Resources such as timers, tally counters and magnifying glasses will be made available for loan on the day. They should be collected and returned to the Education Centre.
