Facilities
Eating and drinking
Either bring your own picnic, or we’ll cater for you:
- Refreshment kiosk (staffed by Sue, Andrea and the gang) serving hot and cold snacks; great coffee, a variety of teas plus ice creams, sandwiches and pasties. Yum.
- Two picnic areas (including shelters for when it rains)
- Picnic storage shed so you don’t need to carry it around the Village.
- Log cabin for children’s parties (requires pre-booking)
Parking
Free car parking is available opposite the Bekonscot entrance in Warwick Road. At busy times, Nigel our car parking attendant will help you find a space. Oh, please don’t park in the neighbouring Waitrose carpark; check for signs to the Model Village carpark.
- Pay & Display extra parking a short walk away in Beaconsfield town centre.
- Coaches can use our main car park, but please call in advance.
- Get directions to Bekonscot by car
Children’s playground
Halfway round the village (and at the end) you can access the busy children’s playground whilst you take a break and let the small people burn off some energy. Let them slip down slides, pretend to drive a train or sail a boat!
Pushchairs and wheelchairs
Two wheelchairs are available for free hire – either ask at the Coach on entry, or ring ahead on 01494 672919 and Maura will book one for you. Almost all paths and walkways are easily accessible, however the elevated walkway has stair access only. We admit Assistance Dogs into the Model Village. We hope to be able to give wheelchair access to the ride-on railway by 2011, and apologise for the restrictions until then.
Although some of the paths through the village are quite narrow, there are routes with adequate space for pushchairs that seat two children side-by-side. There is also space for you to leave them safely to one side.
Souvenir shop
Our famous souvenir shop is housed in a full-sized ex-BR mk1 railway carriage. Literally hundreds of Thomas the Tank Engine toys, a huge range of world-famous Lilliput Lane miniature ceramic houses, plus books, models and souvenirs for all budgets. Everything from erasers and pencils to complete dolls houses.
Dogs
We are only able to admit Assistance Dogs into the Model Village. We apologise to other dog-owners for this necessary restriction; but big dogs, little model houses and people don’t mix!
