We’re a friendly bunch here at Bekonscot Model Village & Railway. The gang that runs the refreshment kiosk, souvenir shop and railways always have a smile – after all, wouldn’t you, if you worked in a model village every day? Of course, we can get a bit grouchy when we’ve put a railway engine back together and still have three pieces left over. Again. We take great pride in our roles here — looking after both the visitors and the historic model village too. Our aim is to provide a splendid day out for every one of our visitors — through helping them, keeping the village in tip-top condition, and making sure that every minute of their time in our little world is so enjoyable that they’ll talk about it for years beyond. It’s our business to make people have a great big day out.

The team operate on both part-time and permanent contracts. More than a dozen staff work (jolly hard — it’s not all fun and games, though we do love it) all year on administration, maintenance, gardens and models, whilst other staff assist during the open season in the customer service outlets and railways. The hours are usually fairly regular — but of course on busy days they can be longer and everybody mucks in to keep things running smoothly.
